Uttarakhand: Fake officer of State Property Department caught by Doon Police, used to extort money in lieu of job placement

Dehradun Police has arrested a fake officer of the State Property Department. The accused had extorted money from a person in exchange for providing employment to his daughter. Apart from this, the accused had committed fraud by making a fake appointment letter for a job in the District Magistrate’s office. Fake identity cards and other documents of different departments have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
Fake officer caught by Doon Police
According to the information given by the police, Anmol Gupta, son of Manoj Gupta, resident of 52 Adhat Bazar told the police in the complaint that he has a business named Trirupati Travels at Prince Chowk. On January 18, a boy came to his shop. Who had declared his name as Sanjay Kumar, son of Premdas, resident of Kachari Pauri. The young man had taken a scooter on rent from his shop. The young man had given him the scooty rent for ten days. But after 10 days, the young man did not return his car nor is he picking up the phone.
Used to extort money in lieu of employment
Whereas Jagdish Singh, son of Bharat Singh, resident of Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun, filed a complaint that through a person living in his neighbourhood, he was identified with a person named Avneesh Bhatt. Who had to come and go to his neighbor’s house. While showing his identity card, Avneesh described himself as a Class-2 officer in the State Property Department in Uttarakhand Secretariat. The man spoke to Avnish Bhatt regarding his daughter’s job.
Avneesh talked about appointing him to the post of Data Operator in DM office, Dehradun and demanded Rs 20,000 from him for preparing the necessary documents for the same. On which he gave the money to Avneesh and along with this he also handed over the documents of his daughter to the accused.
Police arrested
The victim told that after a week, Avnish Bhatt’s daughter was given an appointment letter which was issued from the District Magistrate’s office. When his daughter reached the District Magistrate’s office regarding the appointment letter, she came to know through the office that the appointment letter was fake. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and started searching for the accused. On Tuesday, Doon police arrested the accused Sanjay Kumar, son of Prem Das, along with his scooter from near the wedding procession behind the railway station. The accused confessed during interrogation that he had taken this scooter on rent.
Accused Sanjay Kumar told during interrogation that he is a BA pass and is a resident of Pauri Garhwal. About one and a half years ago, he came to Dehradun to work in a taxi cab, but due to not getting much profit in it, he started working as a notary and attested in a shop named Naina Photo Estate in Kachari.
The accused made fake identity cards in the name of Avneet Bhatt and different Aadhaar cards in the names of Avneet Bhatt and Sanjay Kumar for different posts in various departments of the State Government and Central Government, through which he got pension, old age pension in the Social Welfare Department. Many people were cheated of money on the pretext of settlement of loan money in the Pension, Economic Planning and Labor Department.
While working in the court premises, the accused met a girl named Priya, whose financial scheme application form the accused had filled in the Social Welfare Department, from which he got the benefit. After trusting the accused, he met Jagdish Muyal through Priya. From whom the accused had deposited Rs 20 thousand in his acquaintance’s account in exchange for providing employment to his daughter.
