Earlier, Abdul Malik’s lawyers had also informed about the arrest. Abdul Malik’s advocates Ajay Kumar Bahuguna and Shailabh Pandey said that a petition has been filed in the sessions court of Haldwani. Abdul Malik has filed an anticipatory bail i.e. anticipatory bail petition in the Sessions Court, in which he has demanded a stay on the arrest. Abdul Malik’s lawyers told that Uttarakhand Police has arrested him from Delhi. According to the advocates, Uttarakhand Police is bringing Abdul Malik to Haldwani.

It is worth noting that in the violence that took place on February 8 in Banphoolpura, miscreants indulged in stone pelting and arson, in which more than 300 people were injured, while government and private property worth more than Rs 8 crore was damaged in the arson and violence. Five people also lost their lives in the firing between police and miscreants. The police is continuously taking action to arrest other accused of violence.
