Irfan Pathan raised a big question by taking the name of Hardik Pandya.
February 28 was a very bad day for Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. Both the players lost their central contracts on this day. On Wednesday, BCCI announced the new central contract and 30 players were included in it. But Ishaan and Iyer were missing from this list even though both were important members of the team for the last few months. It is being told that the selectors became angry with both of them because they did not give importance to first class cricket. However, meanwhile, Irfan Pathan has made a tweet which is raising questions on this decision of BCCI and its policy. In a gesture, he has asked this question to BCCI that if Hardik Pandya cannot play red ball cricket, then should he not play white ball tournaments in domestic cricket in his free time?
Hardik Pandya is in A category
Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya has been kept in A category of Central Contract and for this he will get Rs 5 crore annually. But the big thing is that he neither plays any first class match, nor does he play Test cricket. Apart from this, he also does not play tournaments like Syed Mushtaq and Vijay Hazare Trophy but despite this he gets the central contract.
Hardik’s case is different
Hardik Pandya’s case is a little different. Whenever Hardik is out of Team India, the reason is injury. This is probably rarely seen when Hardik Pandya is fit and not playing for Team India. Pandya remains in the recovery phase after his injury and hence BCCI does not take much risk in his case. One reason is that Team India does not have a player like Pandya. Meaning, apart from medium pace, Pandya also bats well and this is the reason why Team India wants him fit for ICC tournaments.
