Mukht’s lawyer’s argument
Due to this, during the hearing on sentencing points on Wednesday, Mukhtar’s lawyer Srinath Tripathi said that at the time of the incident, he was only 20 to 22 years old and had no criminal history. The lawyer said that Mukhtar was not even a public representative at that time, there is no evidence of purchasing weapons. Since he has been acquitted of corruption charges, this court does not have the right to sentence him under the sections in which he was found guilty. However, the prosecution said that influence was used, which is an anti-social crime. Sentence has been pronounced in seven cases. Which also includes life imprisonment. 20 cases are still pending, hence maximum punishment should be given.
