Assam: DSP arrested for raping minor maid of the house

A case that puts Khaki to shame has come to light from Assam. Here, a case has come to light against a senior police officer posted as DSP of raping a minor maid working in the house. The officer has been arrested in the case under several sections including rape and POCSO Act. It is alleged that DSP Kiran Nath, posted in the Police Training College, sexually harassed a minor girl. The victim used to work at the DSP’s house. Police have registered a case against DSP Kiran Nath under sections 376, 506 of IPC, and section 6 of POCSO Act. The victim’s family members lodged an FIR at Dergaon police station in Golaghat district on Saturday.

Wife used to hide her misdeeds
The victim alleges that the DSP’s wife also supported him in this heinous act and tried to hide his actions. While talking to the media, the family members said that being a woman, the DSP’s wife should have supported the girl. But she remained silent and kept hiding her husband’s misdeeds.

Arrested on the basis of evidence
Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh gave this information on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. He told that the DSP posted at Lashit Borphukan Police Academy in Deragaon has been accused of sexual exploitation of a minor and a case has been registered. On the basis of evidence, DSP Kiran Nath has been arrested. The DGP further said that Assam Police has a zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment. On the other hand, the police say that investigation is going on in the matter. The statements of the victim and other witnesses have been recorded.
