Uttarakhand: BJP candidate Anil Baluni filed nomination, Union Minister Smriti Irani also reached Pauri

Anil Baluni, BJP candidate from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, filed his nomination for Lok Sabha elections 2024 at the Collectorate office of Pauri on Tuesday 26 March. On this occasion, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Uttarakhand BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat were present along with Anil Baluni.
Before filing nomination, Anil Baluni also demonstrated strength in Pauri along with senior leaders of the Center and the State. His road show started from Ramleel Maidan Pauri Garhwal to Collectorate Office. Current MP from Pauri, Tirath Singh Rawat and Manish Khanduri were also present on this occasion.
Let us tell you that Anil Baluni is in direct competition with Congress candidate Ganesh Godiyal. Ganesh Godiyal will file his nomination at Pauri Collectorate office on Wednesday 27th March. Anil Baluni is originally a resident of Nakol village of Pauri district. Anil Baluni’s political journey started from Pauri district of Uttarakhand. Assembly elections were held for the first time in 2002 in Uttarakhand, which was separated from UP. Then Anil Baluni had filed nomination from Kotdwar assembly seat of Pauri district, but his nomination was canceled, against which Anil Baluni had appealed in the High Court and even the Supreme Court.
Congress’s Surendra Singh Negi had won from Kotdwar in 2002, but the Supreme Court, finding Anil Baluni’s nomination valid, canceled the elections held on Kotdwar assembly seat in 2002, after which by-elections were held here again in 2005. .
However, Anil Baluni lost in the 2005 by-election. After this Anil Baluni did not contest any election on the ground. After 2005, Anil Baluni moved to Delhi and started living among central leaders. Anil Baluni is considered very close to PM Modi. In the year 2024, BJP made Anil Baluni the national spokesperson of the party and also handed over the responsibility of national media in-charge.
After this, in the year 2018, BJP had sent Anil Baluni to Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand, whose tenure was completed in the year 2024. In place of Anil Baluni, BJP has sent its state president Mahendra Bhatt to Rajya Sabha in the year 2024 and has fielded Anil Baluni by giving him ticket from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat.
