Uttar Pradesh: Soldier posted in Ram temple security got shot from AK-47, referred to Lucknow

The platoon commander posted in the Shri Ram Temple complex was seriously injured by firing from his own AK-47. He was brought to Shriram Hospital, from where he was referred to the Medical College, Lucknow. After the operation in the medical college, he was referred to Lucknow in critical condition. The accident took place at around 05:45 pm on Tuesday evening at the post located in the campus.

Ramprasad (53), originally from Amethi district, is currently posted as the platoon commander of the 32nd battalion of PAC, in the security of Shri Ram Temple complex. On Tuesday evening, around 05:45 pm, he along with other soldiers was taking charge of the security arrangements at the post established in the premises when suddenly while cleaning the weapons, a bullet was fired from his own AK-47. The bullet hit him directly in his left chest and passed through it. He fell there after being seriously injured by the bullet.

Other soldiers deployed along with him informed the higher officials and took him to Government Shri Ram Hospital, from where after first aid, when his condition became critical, he was referred to the Medical College at around 06:46. There, General Surgeon Dr. SP Bansal performed the operation and referred him to Lucknow. The condition of the commando is still said to be critical.

Medical college converted into cantonment
During the operation of the Platoon Commander, the Medical College campus was transformed into a cantonment. IG Praveen Kumar, CRPF Commandant Chhotalal, SSP Rajkaran Nayyar and other police officers were present themselves. A large number of police, PAC and CRPF personnel also remained standing with them. At the same time, CMO Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal Dr. Gyanendra Kumar and CMS Dr. Arvind Singh were also present during the operation.

There was a commotion due to the sound of gunshot
There was a stir in the high security zone of Shri Ram Mandir complex due to the sudden sound of gunshot. Devotees also became frightened by this. However, other soldiers showed proactivity and made them aware of the matter, otherwise a stampede could have occurred.

Family lives in Lucknow
According to sources, Platoon Commander Ramprasad, originally a resident of Amethi, was attached to Ayodhya from Lucknow about a year ago. His family still lives in Lucknow. The family members have also been informed after the accident.
