Russia bombed Ukraine’s capital Kiev for the third time in five days, intensified attacks on other cities as well

On Monday, Russia fired missiles at Ukraine’s capital Kiev for the third time in five days. Along with this, Russia has intensified air strikes on various cities of Ukraine while there is peace to a large extent on the fronts of the war. Ukraine’s rescue service said nine people were injured in the attack on the country’s capital and that the Pechersky district was the most affected. Ukraine’s National Police reported that missile debris damaged homes in two districts and a local college gym in another district.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev city military administration, said Russia fired two ballistic missiles at Kiev from the occupied Crimea peninsula during the day, but both were neutralized in the air over the city. Russia attacked Kiev for the first time in six weeks on Thursday, firing more than two dozen missiles before dawn. Russia launched a massive attack against Ukraine’s energy sector on Friday. The attack is being described as retaliation for recent attacks on Russian soil.

After the attack in Russia, bombing again in Ukraine
Ukraine’s fierce shelling of the Belgorod region bordering Russia has prompted the Kremlin to announce plans to evacuate some 9,000 children. The bombing in Kiev comes three days after an attack on a concert in Russia killed more than 130 people. Russian President Vladimir Putin has tried to link the attack to Ukraine, while an affiliate of the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility.

Analysts say Putin could use the attack in Moscow as a pretext to drum up support for the war and increase attacks on Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated his appeal to Western partners to provide more air defense systems to protect the country from frequent attacks.
