Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar got ‘Z’ category security, know why the Home Ministry took this decision

The Central Government has decided to provide Z category security of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across the country to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. The central government has taken this decision in view of the possible threats.
The Union Home Ministry has tasked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with the task of providing a contingent of about 40-45 personnel. Central security agencies in their report had recommended stronger security for Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar. A squad of armed commandos will be deployed across the country along with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Rajiv Kumar is the 25th Chief Election Commissioner of the country. Rajiv Kumar, a 1984 batch IAS officer, has replaced former Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra. He has also been the Election Commissioner before this.
Rajiv Kumar has also served on many important posts in the Government of India. Rajiv Kumar, who was an IAS of Bihar and Jharkhand cadre, retired from the Indian Administrative Service in 2020.
