An army soldier died due to drowning in Charma river in Askot, Pithoragarh. It is being told that the young man had come home on leave. According to the information received, 23 year old Rahul Dhami, resident of Askot, was posted in Patiala in 12 Kumaon Regiment. He had come home on leave just a few days ago.
The young man had gone to bathe in the river with friends
It is being told that Rahul Dhami had gone to take bath in the Charma river with some of his friends. He drowned while bathing in the river. Friends informed SDRF about this. On information, SDRF jawans from Panagarh and constables Jagat Singh and Kavindra Singh reached the spot under the leadership of in-charge Prakash Chandra from Askot police station. SDRF rescued the soldier from the river and took him to CHC Didihat in 108 ambulance. But the doctors there declared him dead.
The deceased soldier had joined the army five years ago
As soon as information about the accident was received, Bhartendu Dhami, younger brother of the deceased soldier, reached Didihat. After which the police sent the body for post-mortem. Let us tell you that the deceased soldier had joined the army only five years ago. The young man’s father died four years ago. He leaves behind his mother Tara Devi and younger brother Bhartendu Dhami. After the incident, both of them are in bad condition and crying.
