Uttarakhand: Wildlife attacks are not stopping in Nainital, tiger kills farmer, villagers create ruckus

The attacks by wildlife in the residential areas adjacent to the Corbett National Park in Nainital are not showing signs of stopping. In Bansitla village of Ramnagar area, a tiger killed a person. There is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers after the incident.

Tiger kills farmer
According to the information received, Pramod Tiwari was cutting wheat in the fields late on Wednesday evening in Manorathpur Bansitila village of Ramnagar development block. Then suddenly the tiger in ambush attacked them. The tiger dragged the farmer for about 70 meters. The people present at the spot started making noise.

The tiger ran away after hearing the sound of the ringtone
It is being told that during this time Pramod’s phone rang. Hearing whose noise he ran away. However, by the time the villagers reached Pramod, he was dead. The villagers immediately informed the forest department about the matter. The villagers allege that the Forest Department team reached the spot much after giving the information.

Villagers warned of agitation
There was anger among the villagers against the forest department. Villagers say that due to fear of tiger they are not able to go to their fields. While their wheat crop is standing ready in the fields. The villagers have appealed to the forest department to shoot the tiger. The villagers made it clear that if they were not soon freed from the terror of the tiger, they would be forced to protest.

Instructions given to increase patrolling
Deputy Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, Digant Nayak, who reached the spot after the incident, assured the villagers and the relatives of the deceased that the tiger would be captured soon. At present, the Forest Department appealed to the villagers not to go to the fields alone. Digant Nayak has instructed the forest workers to increase patrolling and install camera traps and cages.
