British pharma company AstraZeneca has decided to stop the purchase and sale of its Covid-19 vaccine worldwide. This also includes the Covishield vaccine made in India.
Just a few days ago, this pharmaceutical company had admitted in a court about the dangerous side effects of the vaccine. Let us tell you that the AstraZeneca vaccine was used in India under the name of Covishield. However, the company has given some other reasons behind removing the vaccine from the market.
The application for withdrawal of the vaccine from the market was made on 5 March, which became effective from 7 May. AstraZeneca had developed the corona vaccine in collaboration with Oxford University in 2020. Using its formula, Serum Institute manufactures a vaccine called Covishield in India.
What information did the company give?
AstraZeneca had said on Tuesday that there is more vaccine available in the market than required, so the company has decided to withdraw all vaccines from the market. It is worth noting that a few days ago the company had also accepted that the vaccine also has some side effects. Such as blood clotting due to the vaccine and a drop in the number of blood platelets.
Let us tell you that according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, more than 220 crore doses have been given in India so far.
