Russia-Ukraine War: Ukraine removes two of its senior ministers amid war, investigation underway against an MP for illegal occupation

Ukraine has sacked two senior ministers who were at the centre of the wartime economy. Ukraine’s parliament approved this on Thursday. The MPs approved the sacking of Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and Agriculture Minister Mykola Solsky by a majority. Along with this, the important department held by Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov has been divided into two parts.

Kubrakov had many responsibilities, including inspecting reconstruction programs amid the Russian blockade and attempting to establish Black Sea shipping. Kubrakov said he was not consulted before his dismissal, nor was he given a chance to present his term in parliament.

Solsky’s resignation accepted

The parliament has also accepted the resignation of Agriculture Minister Solsky. An investigation is underway against him for illegal occupation of government land. It was not immediately clear who will replace these two ministers. Senior MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak said that Kubrakov will not be reappointed. The government currently has five ministerial vacancies. On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed popular former army chief Valery Zaluzny as ambassador to Britain.

Ukraine’s parliament has taken an important decision amid the country’s dire need for military personnel. The parliament has passed a bill that will allow some prisoners to join the armed forces. The proposal comes at a time when Ukraine is facing a shortage of soldiers and weapons in the war against Russia.

Eight injured in Ukrainian attack on Belgorod

Ukraine carried out air strikes in Belgorod, Russia on Thursday, in which eight people were injured. Apart from this, several buildings and cars were damaged in the attack. The governor of this region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that an 11-year-old girl was also injured in the attack. He said, 34 flats in 19 apartments were damaged in the Ukrainian attack.
