Uttarakhand: Demand raised for construction of Saryu Lift Scheme, procession will be taken out on 7th June
There is a lot of anger among the people of the city against the Jal Sansthan and the administration on the supply of contaminated drinking water from the Lohavati river in Lohaghat city. People have demanded the construction of the Saryu Lift Scheme. For this, the Lohaghat Sangharsh Samiti has been formed. A procession will be taken out in Lohaghat on June 7.
Demand for construction of Saryu Lift Scheme raised
People in Lohaghat have been demanding pure drinking water for a long time. People say that providing pure drinking water is the responsibility of the government, administration and Jal Sansthan. But the people of the city are forced to drink contaminated drinking water. Due to which diseases like jaundice and typhoid are spreading in the city.
A promising student has even died due to jaundice. Local people have demanded the construction of the Saryu Lift Drinking Water Scheme. People said that despite the announcement of the Chief Minister, no action has been taken in the construction of the scheme till now.
A procession will be taken out on June 7
A meeting was organized in view of the problem of drinking water. In which it has been decided that on June 7, the people of the city and the public representatives will take out a huge procession to the SDM office demanding pure drinking water. Along with this, a system board will soon meet the Chief Minister to demand the construction of Saryu Lift Drinking Water Scheme.
Agitation will be done in a phased manner
People say that agitation will be done in a phased manner to provide pure drinking water to the city and to demand the construction of Saryu Lift Drinking Water Scheme. For this, Lohaghat Sangharsh Samiti has been formed. On this, Jal Nigam engineer Lalit Bhatt said that a demand of Rs 1 crore 39 lakh was made from the government for the DPR of Saryu Lift Drinking Water Scheme. But till now the money of P1 has not come from the government, due to which no action has been taken in the construction of DPR.
