70% of Kuwait’s population is migrant
Out of Kuwait’s total population of 48 lakh, only 30% are Kuwaitis and 70% are migrants. Currently, about 10 lakh Indian citizens are living there. Gradually, Kuwait has become a migrant-dominated country by attracting a large number of migrants. However, due to economic challenges, anti-migrant sentiments are now deepening there. In such a situation, the Kuwait government has set a target to reduce the number of migrants in the population from 70% to 30%.

Earlier, many media reports had talked about reducing the number of NRIs in Kuwait’s population to 15%. If this law is implemented, then only about 7 lakh NRIs will be allowed to stay in Kuwait. At least 3 to 4 lakh Indians will have to leave Kuwait.
