The summer capital of the state, Gairsain, is under the grip of encroachment. Large scale encroachment is taking place in Gairsain but the administrative system is indifferent about it. The encroachment in Gairsain was disclosed in an appeal on the instructions of the State Information Commission. This has been revealed in the investigation report of the joint team of Revenue and Nagar Panchayat.

The encroachment in Gairsain has been disclosed after the orders of investigation given by the State Information Commission Yogesh Bhatt. The joint team has submitted the report of a partial part of Gairsain to the commission citing lack of time. On confirmation of encroachment in the investigation report, the commission has stressed the need to take the encroachment in Gairsain seriously and has called it a big challenge for the future.
State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt sought a report
State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt has directed the Deputy District Magistrate Gairsain to prepare a report of encroachment and occupation of government land in the entire Gairsain. Along with this, he has directed to bring the report related to encroachment on government land in Gairsain to the notice of Chief Secretary, Secretary Revenue, Secretary Urban Development and District Magistrate Chamoli.
Seriousness is necessary regarding encroachment
The State Information Commissioner has informed the government about the decision of an appeal regarding the information of encroachment in Gairsain. The Commission has expressed objection to not preparing the report of encroachment in the entire Gairsain and said that seriousness is necessary regarding the encroachment taking place there for the future of Gairsain.
The Commission gave this decision in the appeal made by Gairsain resident Radhakrishna Kala regarding the desired information regarding encroachment. The Commission had directed the Deputy District Magistrate Gairsain to prepare the details of encroachment in Gairsain with the joint team of Revenue and Nagar Panchayat.
