Uttar Pradesh / Banda: Marriage was arranged by telling that he had a government job, the groom turned out to be a driver, angry wife reached the police station

A shocking case has come to light from Banda, UP, where a young woman has alleged that before marriage, her husband had told her that he had a government job but later it was found that he was a private car driver. Angered by this, the wife reached the police station. At present, an FIR has been registered against seven people from the in-laws’ side, including the husband, in the case.

According to the complainant girl, her in-laws had deceived her and her family and got this marriage done. Before marriage, the in-laws had told that their son is in a government job. There is also a house, plot etc. in Haryana. After which my family got me married to their son in 2020.

But when I reached my in-laws’ house, I came to know that the boy does not do any job, but is a driver. He drives a private car. After knowing the truth, I was shocked. When I asked my husband and in-laws about this, they started beating me. They started harassing me for dowry. I had to go to the police out of compulsion. I had been tolerating it for many years, but not anymore.

At present, the victim has reached the police station and complained about the matter to the police. The police have registered a case and started investigation. The police officer said that a case has been registered against 7 members of the complainant’s family including her husband under relevant sections. Further action will be taken after investigation.

According to the FIR, the victim’s name is Anuradha Devi and she has named 7 people from her in-laws’ side including her husband Ravi Kumar, his father Rakesh Kumar, mother-in-law Pinky Kumari, brother-in-law Ankit. The victim alleges that her in-laws beat her up for dowry and also threatened to kill her.
