Uttarakhand: Congress gears up for by-elections, senior leaders come to the forefront for campaigning

A tough fight is being witnessed in the by-elections to be held on two seats in Uttarakhand. Congress has also geared up for the by-elections. Four veteran leaders of Congress have come on the front to take revenge for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. All are campaigning for the party candidates.

Congress had to face defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress has geared up to take revenge for this defeat. Veteran leaders of Congress have entered the fray for the by-elections to be held on Badrinath and Mangalore seats. Former CM Harish Rawat, state president Karan Mahara, MLA Pritam Singh, former state president Ganesh Godiyal are campaigning for the party candidate.
Congress has an upper hand on Mangalore seat
The by-election is being held due to the death of BSP MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari in Mangalore seat. A tough fight is being witnessed here between Congress and BSP. BSP has fielded Sarwat Karim Ansari’s son on this seat. While Congress has fielded former MLA Qazi Nizamuddin and BJP has fielded Kartar Singh Bhadana from outside the state.
Let us tell you that in the last assembly elections, Qazi Nizamuddin lost by a very small margin of votes. Due to which Congress is said to have an upper hand in the by-election to be held on Mangalore seat. However, BJP is trying its best to win.
Fierce competition on Badrinath seat
Talking about the seat, by-election is being held here due to the resignation of Rajendra Bhandari. After Rajendra Bhandari joined BJP, he has been chosen as the candidate. While Congress has fielded Lakhpat Butola from here. It is believed to be a tough competition between the two. Congress has started preparations to win the election on this seat.
Congress leader Ganesh Godiyal is campaigning vigorously here. Congress is making an issue of holding by-election on this seat. Congress says that Rajendra Bhandari has broken the trust of the people by changing parties just before the Lok Sabha elections, he will get the answer for it in the by-election.
