Congressmen have expressed anger over the non-arrest of former BJP leader Adityaraj Saini, the main accused in the gang rape and murder case in Shantarshah of Haridwar district.
Under the leadership of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Yashpal Arya, Congress MLAs Furkan Ahmed, Mamta Rakesh, Ravi Bahadur, Anupama Rawat, Virendra Jati have sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the DM demanding the arrest of the accused.

He said that the accused should be arrested as soon as possible and all the culprits should be punished by completing the trial of the case quickly. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Yashpal Arya said that the police have not yet been able to arrest former BJP leader Adityaraj Saini involved in the incident.
An attempt is being made to hush up the matter by arresting other suspected accused to save the main accused. He warned that if the main accused are not arrested within 15 days, the Congress will be forced to launch a statewide agitation.
