Uttarakhand: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi reviewed the report of IIM Rohtak on the carrying capacity of Chardham and directed to prepare an action plan for smooth and safe travel

To simplify the registration system, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card based registration system and AADHAR based registration will be considered. The action plan will focus on issues such as a strong system of medical and emergency services for the devotees, effective management and monitoring of the Yatra and strengthening the local economy while preserving the local ecology.

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi on Tuesday held an in-depth discussion at the Secretariat on the study report prepared by the Director of IIM Rohtak and his team to improve the carrying capacity and SOPs of Chardham Yatra and to make the journey more pleasant, smooth and safe for the devotees.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed that efforts should be made to accurately assess the carrying capacity of the four Dhams for the action plan to be prepared for smooth and safe Chardham Yatra. In the action plan, special attention should be paid to issues such as a strong system of medical and emergency services for the devotees, effective management and monitoring of the pilgrimage and strengthening the local economy while preserving the local ecology.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has given instructions to give priority to improving the condition of roads, traffic jams, solutions to the problem of overcrowding in the first 40 days after the opening of the doors, and the system of feedback from the devotees in the action plan.
In the meeting, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card based registration system and AADHAR based registration were discussed to simplify the registration system of devotees. Along with this, discussions were also held on implementing an SMS Weather Update System in view of the safety and convenience of Chardham pilgrims, providing medical facilities under PPP model or CSR on the Yatra route, implementing Batch Wise Darshan system for crowd control in the Dhams and reviewing the parking capacity.
Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Tourism, Commissioner Garhwal and other officers and Director of IIM Rohtak and his team were present in the meeting.
