Uttarakhand / Devprayag: Leopard kills 17-year-old boy, body found in mutilated condition, panic prevails in the area
Sad news is coming from Devprayag. A 17-year-old boy returning from Degree College after playing cricket on Thursday night has been killed by a leopard. After hours of search operation, the body of the boy was found in a mutilated condition several kilometers away from the spot. After which there is an atmosphere of panic in the area. On receiving the information, the forest department team reached the spot and caged the man-eating leopard.
Leopard kills 17-year-old boy
The incident happened on Thursday late evening. According to the information, Anurag (17), son of Balwant Singh Chauhan, was returning from Devprayag Degree College after playing cricket at around 7 pm. Suddenly, the leopard sitting in ambush attacked Anurag. Even after the eyewitnesses raised an alarm, the leopard did not leave him. On receiving the information of the incident, the police and forest department team reached the spot. The rescue team searched for the boy for hours but there was no trace of the boy. Late night, the body of the boy was found in a mutilated condition.
Man-eating leopard trapped in cage
According to the information, Anurag was a student of class XII and his mother is employed in the education department. While his father Balwant Singh is a stamp vendor. Regarding the matter, Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandhari has demanded the forest department to catch the leopard. Keeping in mind the safety of children after the leopard attack, a holiday has been declared in all the schools of Devprayag development block today. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area since the incident. Early Friday morning, the forest department succeeded in catching the leopard.
