Rules are being prepared to implement UCC in Uttarakhand, CM Dhami will hold a review meeting on July 22

The work of preparing the rules of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand is in its final stages. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will hold a review meeting with all the 17 departments related to UCC on July 22.
UCC Rules and Implementation Committee Chairman Shatrughan Singh and all other members will be present in the meeting. Along with him, the head officers of many departments including Home, Revenue, Police, Legislative will have a detailed discussion on the process of implementing the UCC law. During this, important topics like running training programs with the Secretary of the Home Department, running a special campaign for registration of marriages and printing 10 thousand copies of the UCC Act before implementing the law will be discussed.
Special campaign from November for registration of marriages
After implementing the UCC by October, a special campaign will be run between November 2024 to May 2025 to register all those marriages which would have taken place before the implementation of UCC. Its implementation will be discussed in the review meeting.
Large scale training programs will be conducted in police and revenue department
Large scale training programs will be conducted for the officers and personnel of Home, Police and Revenue Department who play an important role in implementing UCC. Preparations for training at SDM, Tehsildar and Sub Registrar level will also be discussed regarding UCC. Along with the training program of DDO and BDO in rural areas, coordination on UCC up to Supreme Court, High Court and District Courts will be discussed. At the same time, there will be a discussion with the Secretary of Information and Science Technology Department regarding the website and mobile application being created to implement UCC, so that the facilities of UCC can be easily made available to the common people. UCC portal will provide the facility of making will and paying fine online. Key officials of Justice, Finance, Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Census, Women Empowerment and Child Development will also be present in the meeting.
UCC rules may be implemented from September
The government and the UCC implementation committee are also considering the point that the UCC rules should be implemented from September, after which the UCC law can be fully implemented by November. An important discussion will be held with the Secretary of the Legislative Department in the review meeting on how possible and effective this will be.
