Himachal Pradesh: Cloud burst in Manali, devastation from Dhundi to Palchan, 2 houses washed away, Beas river in spate

Last night, a cloud burst (Manali Cloud Burst) in Manali, Himachal Pradesh caused flooding from Dhundi to Palchan. Due to heavy rains, Anjani Mahadev Nallah flooded and large boulders came on Manali Leh National Highway. Due to this, the highway is now closed and movement in Lahaul valley is taking place through Rohtang Pass. The important thing is that Kullu and Lahaul Spiti Police have now issued an advisory. It is a matter of relief that right now the sun is shining in Manali and the weather is clear.
According to the information, there was heavy rain in Manali last night and then Anjani Mahadev Nallah, which meets the Beas river, took a fierce form. Similarly, four km before the Atal Tunnel, debris entered the snow gallery due to a landslide in Dhundi. Apart from this, a part of the Manali Leh highway has also been washed away in the Beas river here.

Lahaul Spiti Police informed on social media that cloudburst in Manali has caused flash flood from Dhundhi to Palchan. In such a situation, people should avoid movement on this route. On the other hand, due to the closure of the highway ahead of the South Portal of Atal Tunnel, the Keylong Manali-Sarkaghat bus has been stopped near the North Portal. The bus full of passengers has not yet been allowed to go through Rohtang Pass. People have requested MLA Anuradha Rana to issue orders to the Keylong depot management to run the bus via Rohtang Pass. At present, no order has come so far.
At present, information has been received that two houses in Palchan have been washed away in the flash flood and one house has been damaged. Apart from this, the bridge ahead of Palchan has also suffered partial damage. The important thing is that due to the arrival of big stones here, the drain changed its direction and it started flowing from the side of the old bridge. It has also been learned that 12 sheep and goats have been swept away by floods in Palchan. Anjani Mahadev drain had changed its direction near Palchan bridge. The road has been damaged due to flooding in the last drain near Udharas Solang drain.
People from Palchan, Ruad, Kulang including Nehrukund to Patlikuhal have been affected by heavy rains and floods. People could not sleep the whole night and an atmosphere of chaos was seen at midnight. Beas river has changed its direction near Potato Ground. Flood water has come on the road. At present, police and administration are present on the spot and people have been advised to be cautious. Let us tell you that last year also in 2023, there was a lot of devastation in Manali due to heavy rains and floods.
