Uttar Pradesh: Post in-charge in Kannauj demanded 5 kg potatoes as bribe, settled for 3 kg, suspended after audio went viral
A unique case of demanding bribe of three kilos of potatoes has come to light in Kannauj, UP. The police post in-charge had to lose his chair due to three kilos of potatoes. Actually, an audio of the post in-charge and a complainant went viral, in which bribe in the form of potatoes is being demanded between the two for some work.
An audio of in-charge Ramkripal Singh posted at Chapunna police post of Saurikh police station area of Kannauj district and a complainant regarding the settlement of some case went viral, in which he was demanding five kilos of potatoes as bribe. However, the complainant is saying that he could give only two kilos of potatoes instead of five. However, the post in-charge expressed displeasure over this and then demanded five kilos of potatoes.
Post in-charge suspended, CO City investigating the matter
After this, the complainant said that the business is not going well. Therefore, he expressed his inability and asked to give only two kilos of potatoes. On the other hand, the policeman is saying that he gave three kilos of potatoes instead of five. This audio of their conversation went viral on social media, after which Kannauj SP Amit Kumar Anand suspended the outpost in-charge and the investigation of the case was handed over to CO City for departmental action. This viral audio is said to be about three-four days old.
Bribe was being demanded in code words: ASP
In this case, ASP Ajay Kumar said that the outpost in-charge was demanding bribe in lieu of some work. Which was being demanded in code words. After this audio surfaced, the outpost in-charge was suspended on August 7. Departmental action is going on in this case.
Akhilesh took a dig at BJP
In this case, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has surrounded BJP. He said that ‘potato’ has become a code word for taking bribe in BJP rule. By the way, vegetables are so expensive in BJP rule that tomorrow bribe will really be demanded in the form of vegetables. Now BJP is thinking that why not run a bulldozer on potatoes to save its inspector. Potatoes are today’s, BJP doesn’t want them.
