‘Highway is not a parking place’, Supreme Court’s order regarding Shambhu border,

Today, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding the opening of Shambhu border. During the hearing, the Supreme Court has ordered that the Shambhu border should be partially opened within a week. The Supreme Court said that the highway is not a parking place. The Haryana government can open one lane of the highway for ambulances, school buses, emergency services and local people. This will make life easier.

The Supreme Court has asked the DGP Punjab and DGP Haryana as well as the police chiefs of Ambala and Patiala districts to hold a meeting within a week. The court said that we keep the matter pending. Farmers should also not feel that they have been isolated and sidelined.

The next hearing will be on August 21

Actually, the Haryana government has challenged the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the Supreme Court regarding the opening of the Shambhu border. Today, the Supreme Court heard this petition of the government. The next hearing in the case will be on August 21. The governments of Punjab and Haryana have given the names of the members of the impartial committee to the Supreme Court to talk to the agitating farmers. These committee members will act as mediators between the farmers and the central government. The Supreme Court has expressed satisfaction over the names suggested by the state governments.

The Supreme Court had reprimanded the Haryana government

The matter is being heard by a bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan. SG Tushar Mehta from Haryana and AG Gurminder Singh from Punjab presented their side. The Supreme Court had earlier also reprimanded the Haryana government for keeping the border closed. Let us tell you that farmers have been agitating since 2024 regarding the MSP of crops. In such a situation, keeping security in mind, the Haryana government had closed the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana.
