Uttarakhand: MLA accused DM of acting as BJP’s agent, said- will protest if attitude is not changed

Congress MLA Manoj Tiwari has made serious allegations against the District Magistrate. On October 19, on the instructions of the District Magistrate, the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department organized a Mehndi competition at five places in the city under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. But the public representatives were not informed about it. Making this allegation, Almora MLA Manoj Tiwari has issued a statement and raised strong objection.

Almora MLA Manoj Tiwari said that the District Magistrate had directed the Child Development to organize programs at five places in Almora under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. That program could have been inaugurated either by the head of the administration or by the respected public representatives of the area like Pradhan, area panchayat member, district panchayat member, block pramukh, district panchayat president or the MLA or MP of the area, if it had been inaugurated then there would have been no objection. He alleges that the program was given a completely political color. In the programs held at all five places, somewhere the former district president of BJP inaugurated it, somewhere the current district president and somewhere the former MLA inaugurated it.

This smells of politics somewhere. He said that the District Magistrate is working as an agent of BJP. In his statement, he has requested the District Magistrate and advised that he should not work as an agent of BJP. He should work as a District Magistrate. He also said that the program should have been inaugurated by the head of the administration or the public representative. The MLA said that he strongly opposes this. At the same time, he warned that if such a tradition is started, he will strongly oppose the administration. He said that the District Magistrate has gone to Dehradun, he will talk to him in this regard and will strongly oppose it.

What did the District Magistrate say in the matter

When District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey was contacted over phone in this regard, he said that the Beti Padhao Beti Bachao program was organized by Women Empowerment and Child Development. The purpose was to encourage women to get employment. Small programs were organized at different places. In this program organized by the District Program Officer, women themselves had done it. Therefore, the allegation is not correct.
