Uttarakhand: Transport department in action, RC of 112 vehicles cut for not paying tax

The Transport Department has taken major action to recover the dues of commercial vehicles. Commercial vehicle owners have not deposited the motor vehicle tax for vehicles for many years. Divisional Transport Officer Haldwani Sandeep Saini said that the department has taken major action against vehicle owners who have not deposited the tax, where RC of 112 commercial vehicle owners who have not deposited the motor vehicle tax for the last several years has been cut. Notices were issued to these vehicle owners several times, but the tax amount was not deposited by them.

Sandeep Saini said that in the first phase, RC action was taken against 112 vehicle owners registered in Haldwani RTO office. Under which revenue of about Rs 2 crore 44 lakh is to be recovered. Divisional Transport Officer Sandeep Saini said that all ARTOs have been directed to take RC action against vehicle owners who have not deposited the tax. If the vehicles whose RCs have been cut are found running on the road, action should be taken to seize them. He said that there are many defaulters who have tax dues ranging from one lakh to nine lakh rupees.

RC action has been taken and sent to the District Magistrate. Further revenue collection will be done at the district administration level. Divisional Transport Officer Sandeep Saini said that for the financial year 24-25, a revenue target of Rs 182 crore has been set from Haldwani RTO office. In comparison to which, by doing better work, the department has so far earned revenue of Rs 88 crore. The revenue target set by the government will be met soon.
