Uttarakhand: Teacher suspended for violating model code of conduct, attached to Chief Education Officer’s office

Action has been taken against an assistant teacher serving in a secondary school in Agastyamuni block of Rudraprayag district for violating the model code of conduct. Additional Director Secondary Education Garhwal Division Pauri Dr. SB Joshi has suspended the said teacher with immediate effect and attached him to the Chief Education Officer’s office Rudraprayag. The teacher has been accused of sharing the stage as well as getting photographed with political parties.

By-elections are going on in Kedarnath assembly constituency of Rudraprayag district. The model code of conduct is in force in the district. In such a situation, a teacher serving as assistant teacher physical education in GIC Kandara of Agastyamuni block was seen in the activities of political parties. The teacher has been accused of sharing the stage as well as getting photographed with political parties.

The District Election Officer Rudraprayag had recommended disciplinary action against the said teacher for violating the State Employee Conduct Rules-2003 and Revised Rules-2010 and the Model Code of Conduct. Additional Director Secondary Education Garhwal Mandal Pauri Dr. SB Joshi said that Assistant Teacher Exercise Bhanupratap Singh Rawat serving in GIC Kandara has been suspended with immediate effect.

It is to be noted that the by-election for Kedarnath assembly seat is on November 20. A tough fight is expected between Congress and BJP in the by-election. Kedarnath assembly seat has fallen vacant after the death of BJP MLA Shailarani Rawat. Politics is at its peak between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the by-election on this seat. Both the parties are fiercely targeting each other.
