Uttarakhand: Kumaon Commissioner took Jal Jeevan Mission meeting, directed to take strict action against negligent contractors

Kumaon Commissioner and Chief Minister Secretary Deepak Rawat held a review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission in Haldwani. In which the progress of drinking water schemes in all the six districts of Kumaon was discussed. Currently, there are a total of 3411 drinking water schemes in Kumaon, out of which 2444 schemes have been completed and work is going on on 967 schemes.

Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat held a meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission today. In the meeting, he has asked all the District Magistrates and concerned officials to regularly monitor these schemes. Along with this, instructions have been given for strict action against the negligent contractors.

Instructions for strict action against those who are negligent

Kumaon Commissioner said that Jal Jeevan Mission is an important scheme with the aim of providing drinking water to every house in remote and inaccessible villages. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in this. According to the district wise status, 281 out of 889 schemes are incomplete in Almora, 83 out of 422 in Bageshwar, 113 out of 469 in Champawat, 232 out of 519 in Nainital, 122 out of 779 in Pithoragarh, and 136 out of 333 in Udham Singh Nagar.

Pending schemes should be completed by the next financial year

Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat directed that third party verification should be done for the schemes whose work has been completed. While a revised action plan should be presented to complete the pending schemes by the next financial year. Along with this, after laying the drinking water line, the pits should be filled properly. The pipe should be buried at the appropriate depth as per the standards so that government money and public inconvenience can be saved.
