A leopard devoured a woman in Silauti of Naukuchhiyatal area under Bhimtal range of Nainital district. According to the information received, on Monday afternoon, Leela Devi was going to the forest with her fellow women to get fodder. On the way, a leopard attacked them. During this, the other woman escaped and saved her life and informed the villagers about the incident.
The body of the woman was recovered after several hours
The villagers informed the forest department officials about the incident. On which a team of forest personnel reached the spot under the leadership of Forest Range Officer Vijay Melkani. After running a search operation for several hours, the body of the woman was recovered from the forest 100 meters away from the road.
An atmosphere of panic among the villagers
After the incident, an atmosphere of panic has prevailed among the villagers. The villagers say that leopards and tigers have attacked the village several times. There is terror of them in the entire area. The villagers are demanding to catch the leopard as soon as possible. The forest department is setting up cages to catch it. Along with this, the forest department has appealed to the people not to go into the forest.
