The Special Task Force (STF) seized a huge consignment of smuggled weapons on Saturday. After an encounter at Pohli Tiraha in Kankarkheda, the STF arrested the son of a sub-inspector riding a Scorpio along with five factory-made single and 12 double barrel guns, 700 cartridges of .315 and .12 bore. Four criminals of the interstate arms smuggling gang managed to escape.

All the recovered guns and cartridges were purchased from an arms factory in Punjab. The recovered weapons and cartridges were to be delivered to Anil Baliyan alias Banji, a notorious arms smuggler of Baghpat. This gang also used to buy weapons from Salman and Shariq gang of Meerut. The STF is collecting information about the gang members and arms buyers from the arrested criminal.

ASP Brijesh Kumar Singh of STF said that for a long time information was being received that Anil Baliyan, a notorious interstate arms smuggler of Baghpat, was smuggling weapons. On Saturday night, after receiving a tip-off, the STF stopped a black Scorpio at Pohli Tiraha in Kankarkheda. The miscreants in the vehicle opened fire. During the encounter, four miscreants got down from the vehicle and fled.

Rohan, a resident of Lohda village in Baghpat Baraut, was arrested by the STF from the spot. Rohan’s father Rakesh Kumar is a sub-inspector in the UP Police and is posted in Mathura. The STF recovered 17 single and double barrel guns, cartridges kept in 35 boxes and three 45 bore used cartridges from the Scorpio. The ASP said that during interrogation, Rohan told that he had bought each gun for 40 to 50 thousand rupees and cartridges for hundred rupees from Maratha Gun House located on Khas Attari Road in Amritsar, Punjab.

The gun and cartridges were to be handed over to Anil Baliyan of Baghpat. He also told the STF the names of his four absconding companions. He has also bought pistols from Shariq and Salman of Meerut and given them to Anil Baliyan. He sells these weapons and cartridges in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and other states for a huge amount. STF has filed a report against five people including Rohan at Kankerkheda police station.

The father told that Manmohan was missing from home since the incident. After which, he expressed doubt that maybe his son had committed the murder and set the room on fire. The police already suspected the son The police immediately registered a case against the son and started investigation. After which, on the night of 14 August, the police arrested Manmohan Singh from Kulhal area. During interrogation, Manmohan Singh confessed his crime. He told that he has been addicted to drugs for a long time. He has already gone to jail in drug smuggling and Arms Act cases. On the day of the incident, he had asked his mother for money for drugs. But his mother refused to give him money and also did not let him go out of the house. He fled with the money after the murder After which, Manmohan Singh, in anger, attacked his mother’s neck with a wooden stick kept in the house. Due to which she died on the spot. After the murder, Manmohan Singh wrapped the body in a mattress and set it on fire so that it appeared that the woman died due to burning. Manmohan fled on a motorcycle with 30 thousand rupees kept in the cupboard of the house and his clothes.
