Green cess will be imposed on vehicles coming from other states in Uttarakhand, the system will be implemented in the new year

A new system is going to be implemented for the passengers in Uttarakhand from the new year. Under this, as soon as the passengers enter the state, a certain amount will automatically go from their wallet to the government account. This system, which will give economic strength to the state, is being started on the lines of Himachal Pradesh. Through which Uttarakhand will be able to collect revenue of crores annually. Vehicles from other states coming to Uttarakhand will have to pay green cess as entry fee.
Department’s revenue will increase: 17 cameras installed on the border of Uttarakhand are going to be connected with new technology soon. Actually, the Transport Department has completed the preparations to adopt this technology and implement the new system. Through which the Transport Department will start work on collecting green cess from the new year. Under this new system, green cess will be imposed on vehicles from other states coming to Uttarakhand. Due to which the state will get a good income.
Preparations to deduct green cess online
Green cess is also being imposed in Himachal Pradesh and on this basis Uttarakhand has also decided to collect cess from vehicles coming from outside the state. Uttarakhand Joint Transport Commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh said that at present, green cess is being collected from heavy commercial vehicles in the state, while no collection is being made by the Transport Department from private and small vehicles. In Uttarakhand, the rates for collection of green cess range from ₹40 to ₹80. ₹80 is being collected from heavy vehicles entering the state from the border of Uttarakhand. At present, this entire collection is done manually by cutting a slip. Now there is a plan to deduct it online from the fast tag wallet in future.
Green cess will collect crores
Although 40 rupees is fixed for a private car and this green cess is valid for 24 hours, but due to lack of arrangements, no collection is being made from private vehicles. At present, the state is earning 5 to 6 crores annually from the collection being made by the Transport Department from manual commercial heavy vehicles in the form of green governance. Whereas, when the new system is implemented, green cess will be collected from private vehicles as well and the state will get revenue of about Rs 75 crore annually. This will be the situation when green cess will be collected at this rate.
Annual income will double
While the government is currently considering increasing the amount of green cess. The reason behind this is that Himachal Pradesh is collecting about three times more green cess than Uttarakhand. It is obvious that if the state amends the current rate and doubles it, then Uttarakhand will be able to get revenue of Rs 120 crore to Rs 150 crore annually.
Preparation to hire a private company
The Uttarakhand Transport Department has prepared to hire a private company to start the Automatic Vehicle Green Cess Collection System and the tender process has been done for this. After the selection of the company in the first week of December, further formalities are to be completed as soon as possible. In this way, from the new year, the implementation of this new system and the work of collecting cess from vehicles outside the state will start.
There is also a plan to build a data center in the future
The Transport Department is also going to build a data center in the future to operate this entire system in a better way. In which complete information of vehicles coming to Uttarakhand will be available and this entire system can also be monitored through this data center. Currently, there are 17 cameras on the roads of the border area of Uttarakhand, through which automatic number plate recognition work can be done. For this, the help of Intelligent Tolling System (ITS) software will be taken.
