This is the biggest victory in the history of Dehradun Municipal Corporation so far. Congress lost badly in the rest of the corporations. Congress State President Karan Mahara said that this is a period of introspection for the Congress party. Congress party had a lot of expectations from the municipal corporations. He believed that the city dwellers living in the corporations are well-off as well as well-off. He also hoped that the public would be angry against the increasing atrocities on women.

Karan Mahara said that according to the NCRB report, Uttarakhand ranks first in cases of crimes against women among the 9 Himalayan states.
