Uttar Pradesh: Maha Kumbh devotees were crushed by a truck in Ghazipur, at least 6 died, a total of 24 people were in the pickup
There is news of a horrific road accident in Ghazipur, UP. A pickup van full of devotees returning from Kumbh was hit by a speeding truck, due to which 6 people died on the spot. A total of 24 people were in the pickup. Many passengers were seriously injured in the accident, who were immediately sent to Ghazipur Medical College by the administration.
After the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot. As soon as the information was received, the district administration and police team reached the spot. In the initial investigation, all the injured and the deceased are said to be residents of Bansgaon area of Gorakhpur. At present, the police is investigating the whole matter and the absconding truck driver is being searched.
According to the report of Vinay Kumar Singh associated with Aaj Tak, a truck hit the pickup returning from Maha Kumbh from behind on the Varanasi-Ghazipur-Gorakhpur four lane. Due to this collision, the people sitting in the pickup fell on the road. Then the speeding truck ran over these people. This accident was so gruesome that after the accident, dead bodies were scattered on the road. Most of the bodies were in a mutilated condition. The family members were screaming. After this, the local people and the police reached the spot and took the injured and the dead bodies to the hospital in an ambulance.
‘All the people were returning after bathing in Kumbh. There were a total of 24 people in the pickup. Out of which 6 people have died and 13 people are injured. At present, all the injured and the dead have been sent to Ghazipur Medical College. The accused truck driver is absconding since the accident. He is being searched.’
Meanwhile, the negligence of the pickup has also come to light. It is being told that to seat more people than required in the pickup, it was divided into two parts with wooden planks, so that more people could be seated. This is also being told as one of the reasons for the increase in the number of dead and injured in the accident.
