Uttarakhand: ‘Desi-Pahadi’ issue heats up in Uttarakhand assembly, Finance Minister and opposition face to face

The issue of ‘desi-pahadi’ does not seem to be calming down in the Uttarakhand Assembly. The matter heated up during the proceedings of the assembly session on this issue. Actually, the Finance Minister was answering a question in the assembly, when the opposition taunted Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal using the word ‘pahadi’. After which the minister’s temper rose.

According to media reports, this comment came from Congress MLA Madan Bisht. After this, the proceedings of the House got entangled in the ‘desi-pahadi’ debate. There was a heated argument between the opposition and the ruling party. Minister Premchand Agarwal targeted the opposition when the question of ‘desi-pahadi’ was raised in the House. The minister said that he is targeted for being an Agarwal.

The dispute between the minister and the MLA has been going on since the first day of the session

Let us tell you that this dispute between Madan Bisht and Premchand Agarwal is not new. On the first day of the session on February 18, Madan Bisht had protested during the Governor’s address. After which Minister Premchand Agarwal had accused the MLA of coming to the House after drinking alcohol. After this allegation, MLA Madan Bisht had accused the minister of insulting the Pahadi MLA. Due to which the resentment between the two had increased.

The matter was settled after the intervention of the Assembly Speaker

When the uproar over Desi and Pahadi continued for about two minutes in the House, after which Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri also expressed displeasure. Ritu Khanduri had even compared the MLAs to the youths fighting at the crossroads. This entire matter was settled after the intervention of Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri.
