Uttarakhand: Transport department busy in preparations, checking will be strict, emphasis will also be on installing GPS devices in vehicles

The Transport Department has intensified preparations for the Chardham Yatra. This time enforcement teams will be deployed at all checkposts to check vehicles. The department is also preparing to install GPS devices in public transport vehicles.

The Transport Department has started repairing all the checkposts for the Chardham Yatra. The duty of the employees will be imposed here according to the roster. The enforcement teams of the Transport Department will be deployed on the travel routes in addition to the checkposts. Action will be taken against those coming to the Yatra with vehicles against the rules. The process of green permit will be online this time too.

For the last several years, emphasis has been laid on installing GPS devices in public transport vehicles during the Yatra. This time also the Transport Department is preparing to implement it more strictly. Taxis, maxi, mini buses, buses and other commercial vehicles will be checked at Barwala, Bhadrakali, Tapovan, Kuthalgate, Sonprayag checkposts on Vikasnagar-Yamuna Bridge route.

Drivers coming from outside will have to pass the exam

Commercial drivers coming from other states will have to pass the transport department exam this time as well. Only after passing the exam will they be considered eligible to drive in the mountains. Drivers will be given special training on Chardham Yatra routes. Questions related to driving skills, road safety rules and vehicle operation in hilly areas will be asked in the exam. Drivers who fail in the exam will get a chance to take the exam again.

CM’s instructions, negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances

On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave strict instructions to the Transport Department in the meeting of Chardham Yatra preparations. He said that along with enforcement on the travel route, arrangements should also be improved. So that accidents can be prevented.
