Inhuman atrocities on women in Muslim countries during Ramadan, made to run naked on the streets, raped and then killed

In the holy month of Ramzan, when Muslims all over the world are engaged in prayer and spreading the message of peace, the situation in Syria is becoming horrific. The bloody conflict going on between the new government and the supporters of ousted President Bashar al-Assad has taken the lives of thousands of people. The worrying thing is that amid this conflict, innocent women are being made victims of the most brutal atrocities. Amidst the ongoing violence in Syria, heart-wrenching incidents of atrocities on women are coming to the fore. According to local reports, incidents of rape of women and young girls have increased.

According to reports, many minority women were stripped naked and run in public after brutal torture by pro-government Sunni Muslims and then killed. In many areas, the situation has deteriorated so much that even men are being forced to walk on their knees. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has reacted strongly to this horrific violence and has questioned the silence of radical Muslim organizations, clerics, and international human rights organizations.

“Horrific scene of violence in Syria: Women paraded naked and killed! Even in Ramadan..!! They call it the holy month!! Violence has been continuing unabated for the last few days in the new regime in Syria. Men are also being made to kneel like dogs and women are being brutally murdered.”

He further said, “Why are the Indian radical Muslim Ulemas and their organizations, who shed tears for the terrorists in Gaza, silent on this? Will they dare to protest on this too?” Along with this, he has also raised questions on the silence of international organizations like the United Nations Human Rights Commission and United Women. Recently, there was a controversy in the country over the fasting of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami. Many Maulanas and Muslim religious leaders openly gave their opinion on this. But, when it came to the inhuman atrocities being committed on innocent women in Syria, the same radical organizations, Ulemas and Maulanas remained completely silent. The increasing violence in Syria and the brutal atrocities on women have shocked the entire world. But the big question is whether the United Nations, human rights organizations and the leaders of Islamic countries will take any concrete steps on this, or will these incidents remain just another “unheard tragedy”?
