Amazing confluence of PhulDei and Holi
This time PhulDei coincides with Holi. While people are colored in the colors of Holi, the fragrance of PhulDei is filling this hill state with new energy. In today’s modern era, when the new generation is moving towards western culture, it becomes very important to preserve folk festivals. Festivals like PhulDei connect us to our roots and work to explain the importance of nature and culture to the coming generation. Experts say that we want our children to remain connected to their culture, PhulDei is not just a festival, but a tradition to express gratitude towards nature.
Mythological belief of the festival
The mythological belief behind celebrating the festival is that once Lord Shiva was engrossed in his penance during winter. Many years have passed since the Lord’s penance, but Lord Shiva did not wake up from penance. After which Mother Parvati devised a trick to wake up Lord Shiva from penance. Mother Parvati gave the form of innocent children to Shiva devotees by dressing them in yellow clothes. After which all the gods picked flowers and brought them, whose fragrance spread all over Mount Kailash. First of all, they were offered to the sleeping posture of Lord Shiva, which was called Phooldei. On seeing the Shiv Ganas in the guise of children, Lord Shiva’s anger subsided.
