Uttarakhand: Dehradun Mercedes accident case, ‘dealer’ of death arrested, police made many revelations, four lives were lost

The havoc of a high-speed Mercedes car was seen late night on Wednesday, March 12 in the capital Dehradun. The uncontrollable Mercedes car crushed 6 people, in which four died. The driver of the Mercedes was absconding since this accident, who has been arrested by the police. The accused has been arrested by the police near Dehradun ISBT.

The accused is 22 years old and is a BBA student. The accused is originally from Moradabad in UP, who had come to Dehradun for a job. The Mercedes car belongs to the brother-in-law of the accused, at the time of this accident, his 12-year-old nephew was also sitting in the car with the accused. The accused had gone out with his nephew to eat and drink on Wednesday night.

High-speed car crushed four people: According to the police, the accused had gone for a round of Mussoorie on the request of his nephew. While returning from there, the accused could not control the speeding car near Sai Mandir on Rajpur Road at around 8.20 pm and crushed four people walking on the roadside, who died.

Police had registered a case against unknown person: Apart from this, the accused also hit two other people riding a scooter, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Police said that the uncle of Mansharam, who lost his life in this accident, had given a complaint to the police, on the basis of which the police had registered a case against an unknown person.

Eyewitnesses had given clues to the police

Different police teams were deployed on the instructions of Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh to reveal this road accident. Eyewitnesses had told the police that the vehicle in which this accident happened was a Mercedes or a similar vehicle. On this basis, the police furthered their investigation.

Silver grey coloured car was seen in CCTV footage: Police searched the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area as well as searched for a vehicle like Mercedes with the help of ANPR cameras. Police found about 11 such vehicles passing through the spot at the time of the accident, about which the police gathered information. Out of this, the police found one vehicle with Chandigarh number, which was silver grey in colour. One side of this car was damaged.

The car was sold to a Delhi dealer in June 2023

When the police extracted information about that vehicle with Chandigarh number, it was found that this car is registered in the name of Harbir Automobiles Agency, which has Mahindra showrooms in Chandigarh. A police team was immediately sent to Chandigarh. On reaching Chandigarh, the police came to know that Harbir Automobile had bought this car in February 2023, which he sold to a Delhi dealer in June 2023.

The accused’s brother-in-law had bought the car in July 2024

After this, a team was sent to Delhi, where on enquiring, it was found that the dealer had transferred this car to another agency. That agency had bought this car in July 2024 from Jatin Prasad Verma, a resident of Lucknow, who has a residence and business office in Jakhan, Dehradun.

After this, when the police took information from Berkeley Motors Private Limited Mercedes Benz Mohbbewala Dehradun, it was found that on 24 November 2024 a car had come to them for service, which is in the name of Jatin Prasad Verma. After this, the police started searching for the car and the accused driver.

The accused had parked the car in an empty plot: Meanwhile, the police found the Mercedes car parked in an empty plot. When the police inquired about the car from the people nearby, it was found that Mohit Malik, who lives in a flat nearby, told that this car was parked at night by his acquaintance Vansh Katyal. Vansh had told Mohit that there was some problem with his car, so he had asked Mohit for a scooty to drop his nephew to Jakhan. After dropping his nephew, Vansh came back and took Mohit with the scooty.

Police questioned the accused’s brother-in-law

After this, the police reached the car owner Jatin Prasad Verma and questioned him. Jatin Prasad Verma told that he had given his car to his brother-in-law Vansh on March 12. The police got information about Vansh and arrested him near ISBT Dehradun.

The accused told during interrogation that he is a resident of Moradabad and after doing BBA, he used to work in Delhi. After losing his job from Delhi, he came to Dehradun in search of work. Currently he was living in a PG in Dehradun. On March 12, he took his brother-in-law’s car and took his nephew for a ride towards Mussoorie Road.

While returning from there, suddenly two scooters came in front of his car, out of which one scooter collided. Then his car went out of control and collided with four people walking on the roadside. After the incident, he parked the car on an empty plot in Sahastradhara and asked an acquaintance of his, Mohit, for his scooter to drop his nephew. After dropping his nephew at Jakhan, he returned Mohit’s scooter to him, after which the accused was arrested by the police from ISBT today.
