Uttarakhand: Kumaon’s new IG Ridhim Agarwal took charge, gave strict warning to drug smugglers and criminals

Newly appointed Inspector General of Police Ridhim Agarwal (IPS) of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand took charge on Wednesday. As soon as she took charge, she made her priorities clear. She said that a comprehensive campaign will be launched against drug abuse in the region. So that the youth can be saved from the clutches of drugs and strict action is taken against drug smugglers.

Apart from this, IG Ridhim Agarwal said that keeping in mind the upcoming tourist season, better transport facilities will be ensured for the tourists, so that they can enjoy the beautiful places of Kumaon without any inconvenience. He said that the police will be ready to strictly curb crime in the entire division. Their problems will be resolved quickly by establishing direct communication with the public. IG Ridhim Agarwal assured that along with maintaining law and order, the safety of the general public and tourists will be her top priority.
Ridhim is a 2005 batch IPS
Ridhim Agarwal is a 2005 batch IPS officer. In 2022, she was promoted from the post of DIG to the post of IG. She has also handled the responsibility of Additional Secretary Home and Special Secretary Home. Apart from this, IG Riddhim Agarwal has also handled the responsibility of Additional Chief Executive Officer in Uttarakhand Disaster Management along with SDRF.

These 6 districts are in Kumaon Division
A total of 6 districts come in Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand. These include Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. Of these, Udham Singh Nagar district is completely a plain area. Some parts of Nainital and Champawat are plains. The rest of Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora are completely hill districts. In terms of crime, Udham Singh Nagar is ahead in this. Criminal incidents keep happening in the plain areas of Nainital, Ramnagar, Haldwani, Kathgodam and Lalkuan. Crime incidents are less in hill districts.
