Uttarakhand: Energy Corporation and Mussoorie Municipality served notices to each other

Energy Corporation and Nagar Palika have issued notices to each other to deposit dues worth crores. Energy Corporation has warned of disconnecting the connection if Rs. 1.96 crore is not deposited. At the same time, the municipality has also asked to deposit Rs. 24.55 crore of outstanding property tax and rent.

In the notice issued by SDS Bisht, Executive Engineer of Energy Corporation Electricity Distribution Section (North), it was said that the bills of the offices and street lights of the municipality are pending for a long time. Last year also, a letter was sent requesting to pay the bills, but the bill was not paid. It has been said in the notice that if the dues are not deposited within three days, then the process of disconnection of the electricity connection will be started.

At the same time, Municipal President Meera Saklani said that the municipality also owes crores of rupees to the Energy Corporation in the form of rent and property tax. The municipality owes much more to the Energy Corporation than the amount of dues that the Energy Corporation owes to the Municipal Corporation. Despite this, the Nagar Palika has deposited Rs 12 lakh to the Energy Corporation. He said, the Energy Corporation should also deposit the dues of the Nagar Palika soon.

The EO of the Municipality, Tanveer Marwah, said that the Energy Corporation has not deposited the rent and property tax of the office, transformer, poles etc. for the last 15 years. He said that the Nagar Palika has given a notice to the Energy Corporation and requested it to deposit the dues.
