Uttarakhand: Land Law Struggle Committee raised objection on changing the name of Mianwala, said this

The Mool Niwas Bhoomi-Kanoon Sangharsh Samiti has raised objections to the change of name of Mianwala. They also said that if the government was changing the names of various places, then it should have named them after the local personalities of Uttarakhand.

Bhoomi-Kanoon Sangharsh Samiti convener Mohit Dimri said that the government has changed the names of various places in Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. If the government was changing the names, then it should have named them after the personalities of Uttarakhand. Dimri said that the government should have named many local personalities like Indramani Badoni, Chandra Singh Garhwali, Girish Chandra Tiwari “Girda”, Madho Singh Bhandari, Baba Mohan Uttarakhandi, Kalu Mahara, Sridev Suman, Kesari Chand, Nagendra Saklani, Molu Bhardari, Gaura Devi, Teelu Rauteli, Jayanand Bharti, Badridatta Pandey, Sumitranandan Pant, Sunderlal Bahuguna, Shamsher Singh Bisht, who have brought laurels to Uttarakhand all over the world.
Objection raised on changing the name of Mianwala
Mohit Dimri said that if the government had to change the name, it should have named it after local personalities. With whom the sentiments of Uttarakhand are attached. Dimri said that Mianwala of Dehradun was named after the Rajputs of Mian caste settled in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand from Tehri, Pauri to Dehradun valley. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP leaders neither have knowledge of history nor do they know about the society of the mountain. That is why they knowingly or unknowingly insult the society of Uttarakhand. Dimri said that changing the name of Mianwala in Dehradun, named by the government in honor of the Mian Rajputs of Uttarakhand, is an insult to the Uttarakhandi society.
