Uttarakhand: Vigilance arrested Kanungo red handed while taking bribe of 40 thousand rupees

The Vigilance Trap Team has succeeded in arresting a corrupt revenue officer of the Revenue Department red handed. This case is from the DDhat Tehsil area of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. A person in DDhat had called on toll free number 1064 and lodged a complaint with the Vigilance. He had told the Vigilance that the revenue department’s revenue officer has stopped the construction of his two-storey house in DDhat due to lack of land measurement. Also, a bribe of Rs 25,000 each is being demanded for measuring the land of his house to be built in Tok Chhanpatta. After talking to the complainant, the revenue officer agreed to take a bribe of Rs 40,000. Taking the matter seriously, the investigation was given to the inspector of Vigilance Haldwani. During the investigation, it came to light that the revenue officer Narayan Singh Karayat had stopped the construction of the complainant’s two-storey building. Also, Rs 25,000 each has been demanded for measuring the land before the proposed building construction in Tok Chhanpatta. On finding the complaint to be true, today the trap team raided under the supervision of CO Anil Singh Manral and under the leadership of Inspector Prakash Chandra Joshi and arrested the corrupt Kanungo red handed while taking bribe.
Announcement of reward to the vigilance team
On finding the complaint of bribery to be true in Pithoragarh, the vigilance team constituted today arrested Kanungo Narayan Singh Karayat posted in DDhat, presently resident near JMK tiles shop Kholta Almora, native village Pazina Patti Shahru, Tehsil Ranikhet District Almora red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 at his government residence. Action is being taken against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Vigilance Director Dr. V Murugeshan has announced a cash reward to the trap team.
