Uttarakhand: Strictness on adulterated food items during Navratri, raids conducted on 147 establishments

To ensure the purity of the food items used in fasting during Navratri festival, Food Safety and Drug Administration conducted raids on Friday. During this, the team raided 147 establishments to check the quality of buckwheat flour and other food items used in fasting.

Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that raids were conducted in 147 establishments across the state. Out of which 17 samples were sent for testing. A total of 11 food samples were taken from various districts of Garhwal division, which included buckwheat flour, semolina, edible oil, rock salt, sugar, amaranth laddu, falahari namkeen, sago, black salt and sattu. All these samples have been sent for testing. Along with this, instructions have been given to make the investigation report available soon. Let us tell you that 75 food establishments of the state have been inspected. This action of the administration is continuing continuously.
Administration’s stick also came in Kumaon
Dr. R. On the instructions of Rajesh Kumar, the Food Safety Department raided Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Champawat of Kumaon division. The team inspected about 72 food establishments. During this time, open buckwheat flour was not found to be sold anywhere, which made it clear that the guidelines are being followed by the traders. Samples of sago, sattu and black salt were taken from Ramnagar area of Nainital. Samples of packed buckwheat flour and semolina in Bageshwar and a sample of sago from Champawat have been taken for testing. Samples of 6 food items have been sent to Rudrapur for testing.
