The Queen of Hills was again packed with tourists on Friday to enjoy the pleasant weather and three-day holiday in Mussoorie. Last week also, there was a flood of tourists in Mussoorie due to the three-day holiday. However, this time, like last week, the administration and police had made arrangements for crowd management, but despite this, there was a long jam near Kinkreag, the entry point of Mussoorie.

The situation of jam remained on Kempty Road and Dhanolti Road as well. Due to the crowd of tourists, most of the hotels in Mussoorie had up to 90 percent booking. Along with Mussoorie, hotels and guest houses in Dhanolti, Buranshkhanda, Kanatal, Kempty etc. areas were packed with tourists.

In view of the chaos, traffic jam and trouble of tourists last weekend, this week District Magistrate Savin Bansal and SSP Ajay Singh had instructed Rajpur and Mussoorie police station to take action against vehicles parked in no-parking zones to manage the crowd and get rid of traffic jams. Due to which the police kept patrolling continuously and kept removing the vehicles parked in no-parking areas.

Coincidence of holidays

Due to the Good Friday holiday on Friday and public holidays in central offices on Saturday and then Sunday, this weekend also coincided with three days of holidays. Due to this, the process of arrival of tourists in Mussoorie started from Thursday evening itself, which continued till late Friday evening. Mussoorie, the queen of mountains, has always been the first choice of tourists. This is the reason why a large number of tourists reached Mussoorie this weekend as well.

Tourists had to face traffic jams

Due to the crowd, tourists had to face traffic jams many times to reach Mussoorie. There was a jam on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road. Due to the large influx of tourists, there was a lot of activity in Mall Road and the market including tourist places like Campti Fall, Dhanolti, Company Garden, Bhattafal, Gunhill, Mussoorie Lake, Lal Tibba-Char Dukan etc. The police also had to work hard to keep the traffic smooth throughout the day at Gandhi Chowk. At the same time, tourists have arrived in large numbers in Dhanolti.

90 percent of the rooms in the hotels were full

Mussoorie Hotel Association President Sanjay Agarwal said that by Friday evening, 90 percent of the rooms in the hotels of Mussoorie were full. Due to which there is a smile on the face of tourism businessmen. There are a large number of bookings for Saturday and Sunday. Due to this, the crowd in Mussoorie is expected to increase on the weekend. It is worth noting that there are about 350 hotels and guest houses in Mussoorie, in which about 25 thousand tourists can stay. There are more than 50 hotels and guest houses in Dhanolti, Kanatal, Buranshkhanda and Campti.
