Gujarat: Drugs worth Rs 1800 crore seized from the sea near Porbandar, ATS-Coast Guard gets big success

300 kg of drugs have been seized from the sea near Porbandar in Gujarat. ATS and Coast Guard achieved this success in a joint operation. The value of the drugs is being reported to be Rs 1800 crore. An official said that the smugglers had thrown the drugs smuggled from Pakistan into the sea on a fishing boat. When the smugglers saw the patrol team, they threw the drugs and went to the sea area occupied by Pakistan to avoid arrest. ATS has seized the drugs and is investigating the matter.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi gave this information on his official X account. He wrote, this operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the security agency in dealing with drug smuggling. He said that the seizure of drugs is part of the ongoing efforts to stop drug smuggling on the coast.
The minister informed that in an overnight operation on April 2-13, the Indian Coast Guard, along with Gujarat ATS, conducted an intelligence-based anti-drug operation at sea. Over 300 kg of narcotics worth about Rs 1,800 crore have been seized.
The accused managed to escape
He said based on credible intelligence from the ATS, the ICG ship identified a suspicious boat despite dense darkness. On sensing the approaching vessel, the suspicious boat dumped its consignment of narcotics into the sea before fleeing towards the IMBL. The ICG ship gave a hot chase to the suspicious boat and immediately deployed its sea boat to recover the dumped consignment.
