Rudraprayag police has arrested two women of Nepali origin from Sonprayag with 16 kg mutton. The women had brought this mutton from Rudraprayag. They were taking it to supply to their camps and nearby hotels.
Two women caught carrying meat on Kedarnath Yatra route
During checking, Sonprayag police has arrested two Nepali women with about 16 kg mutton. The women have been identified as Maya wife of Yuvraj resident of Phagoti village Nepal and Mitthu wife of Ramesh Shahi resident of Kulti village Palika Nepal, present residence Sonprayag. During interrogation, the women told that they had brought this mutton from Rudraprayag and had planned to supply it to their camps and nearby hotels.
Police has taken action in the past as well
Police has taken action against both the women by issuing challan under Police Act. The recovered mutton was confiscated and buried in a pit. Also, for health safety, it was destroyed by pouring phenyl on it. It is worth mentioning that in just nine days before the start of the Yatra, the police confiscated and destroyed a total of 41 kg of mutton. Apart from this, 211 bottles of illegal liquor were recovered.
