Uttarakhand: For the first time, the responsibility of Haridwar Kumbh Mela is in the hands of a woman officer, know why the government handed over the command

The government seems very excited about the Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027. This is the reason why this Ardh Kumbh Mela is being promoted and broadcasted only in the name of Kumbh Mela. Whereas, the full Kumbh Mela was organized in the year 2021. After which now this Ardh Kumbh Mela 2027 is happening, but the name Ardh has been completely removed from this fair. It is also being called Kumbh Mela.

Therefore, the government has already started preparations for Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027. This is the reason why the government has also appointed a fair officer 2 years ago. This will be the first time in the history of Haridwar, when a woman is becoming a fair officer. The entire arrangement of Kumbh Mela, one of the biggest fairs in the world, will be on the shoulders of a woman officer Sonika Singh. If the Chief Minister’s Office is to be believed, the state government has given important responsibilities to women earlier as well.

Kumbh is not just a fair, the whole city has to be settled

Kumbh Mela is held in Haridwar every 12 years. Whereas, Ardh Kumbh Mela is organized every 6 years. Ardh Kumbh Mela is held in Allahabad and Haridwar only. Like Kumbh Mela, the government makes all the arrangements in Ardh Kumbh Mela. During this entire fair, crores of devotees come to Haridwar to take a dip in the Ganga.

This time the state government is organizing this fair as Purna Kumbh i.e. by completely establishing Kumbh city. It is being told that like the royal bath in the Kumbh Mela, the saints will also take a bath in the Ganga in the form of Peshwai. That is, the center of attraction can be seen in the Ardh Kumbh Mela of Haridwar this time. It is believed that due to this reason, its preparation has started 2 years in advance.

No woman officer has been deployed till now

If we talk about the history of Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh Mela, then Ardh Kumbh Mela was organized in Haridwar in the year 1986, when Narayan Dutt Tiwari was the Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh. He sent Arun Kumar Mishra as the Mela Officer. The people of Haridwar say that permanent work was done for the first time in the Kumbh Mela of 1986.

Roads, bridges and other works were such that they remained as they were even after the fair. After this, when Kumbh Mela was organized in the year 1998, Fateh Bahadur Singh was sent as the fair officer, but he too could not stay for long. After that, Rajiv Gupta was made the fair officer in the Ardh Kumbh Mela held in the year 1992.

After this, in the year 2004, there were frequent changes in the fair officers. First of all, former Chief Secretary IAS Om Prakash was made the fair officer, but he too was removed from the post of fair officer. After this, IAS officer Maheshwari was given the responsibility.

He was posted as the District Magistrate of Haridwar at that time, but he too did not hold the charge for long. Then SC Napchyal was given the charge, but he too could not remain the fair officer for long. After this, Utpal Kumar Singh was made the fair officer.

The fair was completed during his tenure. In the Kumbh Mela of the year 2010, the current Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan was handling the work as the fair officer. Whereas, in the year 2021, IAS Deepak Rawat was given the command of the Kumbh Mela.

This time the responsibility of the Ardh Kumbh Mela has been given to Sonika Singh, who has been the District Magistrate of Dehradun and is currently the Additional Secretary of Civil Aviation. Earlier, a woman officer was also appointed to the post of Chief Secretary for the first time in the state.

CM Dhami said – the role of both is important: In a statement issued by CM Dhami, it has been said that in a state like Uttarakhand where women play an important role, there can be no comparison between women and men.

Both women and men are playing their respective roles in the development of the state. CM Dhami said that it is expected that the work that could not be done in the Kumbh Mela of Haridwar this time due to Corona in the Kumbh Mela of the year 2021. He will do it this time with full grandeur.

Newly appointed Kumbh Mela Adhikari Sonika lists priorities

IAS Sonika Singh has been appointed as the Kumbh Mela Officer for Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027. After which IAS Sonika Singh reached Haridwar and took charge of the Mela Adhikari by reaching the Mela Adhikari office of the Mela Control Building. During this, Kumbh Mela Adhikari Sonika Singh laid down her priorities and took all the information from the officials.

“My effort will be to organize the upcoming Kumbh Mela grandly. To celebrate the Kumbh grandly, emphasis will be laid on traffic, law and order and crowd management. The effort will be to complete the long-term works on time. The suggestions that have come for the grand organization of Kumbh include both permanent and temporary works, just as a grand Kumbh has been organized in Prayagraj, in the same way, it will be their effort that the Kumbh of Haridwar is also grand and divine.”
