The state government will provide a separate budget to the council for the arrangement and management.

Pilgrimage has been a major tourism mode of Uttarakhand. In which there are many other major pilgrimages including Chardham Yatra, Nanda Devi Rajjat ​​Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra. Due to better transport system in the state and increased road, air connectivity, the number of devotees in the pilgrimages and fairs is increasing.

In view of this, the state government formed the Uttarakhand Dharmsw and Pilgrimage Council for better management, control and management in religious pilgrimages and fairs. Now through the council, work will be done to make the journey smooth and safe for the devotees coming to the pilgrimages and fairs with basic facilities, infrastructure development, maintenance.

A high-level committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan had prepared a draft for the formation of the council. The cabinet approved this. The council will be formed at three levels. At the state level, the council headed by the Chief Minister will work on policy formulation.

While the council headed by the Chief Secretary will have the responsibility of monitoring and evaluation. A council will be formed under the chairmanship of divisional commissioners for implementation and planning in both the divisions. The divisional commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon will be the CEOs of the council in their respective divisions.
