In the video, the masts of the ship can be seen breaking and partially collapsing after colliding with the deck of the bridge.
The ship had a Mexican flag

At the same time, there was chaos among the people present at the spot. People present there also made a video of it. People present there told that they were sitting outside to watch the sunset. Then they saw that the ship hit the bridge and one of its masts broke. He said that he saw two people being taken off the ship on stretchers and going to small boats.
Mexican Navy issued a statement
At the same time, the Mexican Navy said in a post on the social media platform X, “Quauhtemoc, an academy training vessel, was damaged in an accident with the Brooklyn Bridge, due to which it could not continue its journey.” It further said that the condition of personnel and material was under review by the Navy and local authorities, who were providing assistance. The Foreign Ministry said on X that its ambassador to the US and officials from the Mexican consulate in New York were in contact with local authorities to provide assistance to the “affected cadets”, but it did not mention injuries.
The bridge is 142 years old

According to the city’s Department of Transportation, more than 100,000 vehicles and an estimated 32,000 pedestrians cross it every day. Its walkway is a major tourist attraction. According to the Mexican Navy, the approximately 297 feet long and 40 feet wide (90.5 meters long and 12 meters wide) Cuauhtemoc first sailed in 1982. Each year it sets out to complete the training of cadets at the end of classes at the Naval Military School. This year it left the Mexican port of Acapulco on the Pacific coast on April 6 with 277 people on board.
The ship was to visit 15 countries
The Mexican consulate wrote in a post on X on May 13 that the Cuauhtemoc, also known as the ‘Ambassador and Knight of the Seas’, was to visit 22 ports in 15 countries, including Kingston, Jamaica; Havana, Cuba; Cozumel, Mexico; and New York. It also planned to visit Reykjavik, Iceland; Bordeaux, St Malo and Dunkirk, France; and Aberdeen, Scotland, among other places. The voyage was for a total of 254 days, of which 170 days were to be spent at sea.
